Vivid gives you the ability to perform searches on the server. This is especially useful for occasions when the dimensions or hierarchy of interest are too large to load locally.

To use this search feature, complete these steps:

1. In the Search area on the Vivid tab, define the search that you want to perform.

2. Select a scope for the search; for example, select Field List to select a measure or dimension, or select Dimension Data to select from actual members.
3. Enter search term(s) into the Terms field.
4. Click Search to start the search.
5. When the search completes, click the down arrow to the right of # Results Found to view the list of results.

6. Click a result to add it to the pivot table.

Because server searches can be time-consuming, the search is performed in the background.

By default, member properties are included in the search. You can change the search options on the Search tab of the Vivid Configuration Options dialog box to turn off the member properties search. See the “Configuring Vivid” section for more details.
