In-Place/Out-of-Place Transformations
Once you have created a pivot table, you can right click inside the table to select and apply a variety of transformations.
Vivid in-place transformations
By default, these transformations modify the existing pivot table. To keep the existing pivot table and create a new pivot table that displays the results of the selected transformation, press the CTRL key as you right click in the pivot table to display the transformations menu. When the menu displays, a symbol appears beside the relevant transformation names.
Vivid out-of-place transformations
This symbol indicates that the transformation will not affect the currently displayed table. Instead, a new table will be created, and the transformation will be applied to the new table in a new worksheet.
