Date Intelligence named sets are special named sets that you can create using Vivid. You can then use these sets, with names like “Day” or “Yesterday,” to refer to relative dates in a given hierarchy. One of the great benefits of using these named sets is that Vivid automatically updates them daily so that they always refer to the appropriate new dates as time passes.
For example, if the current date is August 12, 2010, and you map the Today Reference in the Vivid Date Intelligence dialog box to 8/11/2010 (the cube is always a day behind), then “Day” will map the member that refers to 8/11/2010. “Yesterday” will refer to the 8/10/2010 member (assuming that is the previous day in your hierarchy). When you open Excel the following day, August 13, the “Day” set will refer to the 8/12/2010 member, and “Yesterday” will refer to the 8/11/2010 member.
